Bishop's Message

The Rt. Rev’d Laish Z. Boyd
Welcome, It is my pleasure to introduce, celebrate, and reflect on the impactful work being done by the Anglican Diocesan Pastoral Care and Counselling Ministry (ADPCCM). The Anglican Diocese has long been known for its dedication to serving others, and nowhere is this more evident than in the Pastoral Care exercised by clergy and lay people across our parishes. These efforts, which have brought hope and inspiration to many, stand as a testament to our commitment to addressing challenges within our communities and embodying God’s love in action. The ADPCCM is structured into three transformative initiatives:
The Family Violence Prevention Ministry which runs the POWER UP programme, a youth empowerment initiative. This mentoring programme serves grade 5 and 6 students and some older youth, promoting self-esteem, strong character, community values, and decision-making skills. It operates in 5 New Providence schools, with training extended to 11 Family Island schools, some of which have already implemented the programme. The dedication of volunteers from all denominations has made this possible.
Positive Parenting for Today is a training initiative designed to strengthen parenting skills. This programme has been offered three times a year over the past two years, equipping parents with the tools they need to nurture their families effectively.
In January 2025, we launched an intervention programme for perpetrators of family violence. With facilitator training already underway, this initiative provides support for individuals dealing with anger management issues and those who have committed acts of violence in domestic or other contexts. It is important to note that this programme serves both men and women needing intervention.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to Rev’d. Angela Palacious and her team and we thank her for coordinating these comprehensive programmes over the years, bringing about meaningful change in the lives of many. The ADPCCM also encompasses other vital elements:
The Family Life Committee, chaired by Fr. Roderick Bain, continues its work, and we eagerly anticipate updates from the Province of The West Indies as they finalize their programme.
The Prayer and Healing Ministry, which is currently preparing for The Diocese’s 5th Annual Healing Conference.
Join me in acknowledging the Anglican Diocese’s ongoing commitment to positively impacting our community by bringing healing, and empowering individuals and families across our nation. To God be the glory, now and forever.
